Welcome to Starlight & Saucepans!

Good morning…that is to say, what-ho! I’m glad you stopped by. I am a Catholic teenager who enjoys period dramas, oldies music, vintage thingamajigs, homemaking, crafting, playing the violin, reading classics, and writing fiction, so be prepared to see anything on this blog from gluten-free recipes to a spirited defense of Javert to prayers or poems – anything from starlight to saucepans, as it were.

Charles Dickens’ Our Mutual Friend is one of the first pieces of real literature that I fell in love with, and in honor of that fact I go by the name Lizzie Hexam on this blog (one of the best characters in the aforementioned book).

Please stick around and enjoy! (Or if you’d rather just leave, you could do that too. Whichever you prefer.)

Cheerio!

  1. You play the violin, Lizzie? A wonderful coincidence, because I do as well! What’re you working on at the moment? 🙂

Hehe, well, “at the moment” implies that I practice regularly, doesn’t it ;P Apart from the Csárdás, I play in a quartet/sometimes quintet with a few friends, and I think the most recent really new piece I’ve worked on for that is the first movement of Dvorak’s American Quartet. (I played some new hymns and such and faked my way through the Russian waltz song “Destiny” more recently than that, but those were more things I frantically pulled together in a few days than a real project :P)
