Miss K of Today with Miss K has very kindly tagged me for the Sunshine Blogger Award! (I know I just did a tag for my last post, but I’ve gotten behind on tags and am trying to catch up a bit.)
First things first, here are the rules:
-Thank the blogger who nominated you in the blog post and link back to their blog. (Thank you, Miss K! :))
-Answer the 11 questions the blogger asked you.
-Nominate 11 new blogs to receive the award and write them 11 new questions. List the rules and display the Sunshine Blogger Award logo in your post and/or on your blog.
- Where is your favorite place to read?
Practically speaking, curled up on the living room couch or sitting on the back patio. Dream reading nooks are another story, but I’ve talked about that in previous Sunshine Blogger tags.
- If you could be the patron saint of anything, what would it be and why?
What a fun question! I’m pretty sure St. Christina the Astonishing is already the patron saint of introverts…hmm…not that I think I have more of a right to this than many others, but it would be cool to be the patron saint of fiction writers.
- Swimming pools or lakes?
It depends on the individual lake and individual swimming pool, but as a general rule I think I’ll say lakes. Swimming pools can sometimes be gross and crowded and smell of chlorine and whatnot.

- You have to spend an entire day in one room of your house. Which room would it be?
The living room. My desk area is in one corner of the living room, and as it is I often spend large portions (sometimes probably overly-large portions) of the day there on my computer, both for productive and not-as-productive reasons.
- Would you rather lose your hearing or your sight?
Oh dear…neither! There are distinct disadvantages to losing either…but I think I’d chose losing my sight. Somehow that seems less scary and isolating; I’d feel more a part of my surroundings if I could still hear and feel everything around me, even if I couldn’t see it.
- What is a song that’s always stuck in your head?
I go through phases with this…and of course, as I’m writing this post, my head is very unobligingly refusing to get ANY song stuck in it. Well, I suppose I’ll highlight a song that was always stuck in my head a few months ago: “Under the Sea” from The Little Mermaid (which I’ve never actually watched in full, and from what I know of it I probably wouldn’t like it very much. But I do like that song.)
- Who is the most inspirational person in your life? (real or fictional)
See, I’m not good at answering definitive superlative questions like this. I’ll just mention someone who’s been especially inspirational to me of late without worrying about most inspirational, and that is Jane Eyre, the eponymous character from Charlotte Brontë’s Jane Eyre. She is courageous, principled, firm, and sticks to her convictions no matter what, while also being being truly compassionate and being willing to yield when necessary. And she has a fantastic understated sense of humor. She’s amazing.

- What is your favorite book series?
See above about yours truly’s relationship with superlative questions. The Anne books by L.M. Montgomery are classics, of course (though I’ll admit I like some of the books better than others).
- If you could learn a new language, what would it be and why?
I technically have learned French at least somewhat, but I would like to actually learn it well enough to speak it and be able to understand when I hear French spoken. Other than that? I have this vague desire to learn Swahili, though I have no practical reason for speaking it.
- You have the option to travel back in time for a month. Would you stay in the present or choose a time period?
If I could come right back to my own time after the month was over, I would absolutely choose the time travel! The hard part would be settling on one specific period, since anything from the 1890s through the 1950s sounds pretty enticing…

- Why did you start your blog?
Numerous reasons, but one of the biggest reasons was the community. I loved reading through archives of old period drama blogs, and one of the things I enjoyed the most was seeing all these girls interested in the same things that I was, interacting and having fun together. It made me wish I could have been a part of it, and I feel so incredibly blessed that I have become a part of the blogging community now! You all are what makes blogging so much fun <3
Now, I feel like I’m constantly tagging people, so in the interest of not being a pest, I won’t specifically tag anybody this time. If anyone reading would like to answer Miss K’s questions too, consider yourself tagged!

Well, just to be a bother, I’ve come in and tagged you for another blog challenge, Lizzie! I did an autumn-themed blog challenge, and if you’re interested, here’s the link!

Oh, that’s not a bother at all! For all I worry about bothering others with tags, I quite enjoy getting tagged myself (; Thank you, I look forward to doing it!
“I have this vague desire to learn Swahili, though I have no practical reason for speaking it.” Very relatable, this. I have a fancy to learn Old English. Just because.
I have not done any knitting in the past decade, but I would gladly join that vintage outdoors knitting party 😉
Well, just because is a perfectly legitimate reason. How about I start Swahili and you start Old English, and we’ll keep each other apprised of our progress. ;P
Honestly, same…I practically never knit, but I think for this I would be persuaded to pick it up again 😀
All the things we would do if we had time . . . *weeping*
