In Memoriam

In Memoriam - a vintage Memorial Day card

Today is Memorial Day – a day of remembrance for those who have given their lives for their country. I ran across a lovely Memorial Day prayer written by Helen Steiner Rice, so as a (very brief) post I thought I would share that today.

"A Memorial Day Prayer: They served and fought and died / So that we might be safe and free. / Grant them, O Lord, eternal peace / And give them the victory. / And in these days of unrest / filled with grave uncertainty / Let's not forget the price they paid / To keep our country free." - Helen Steiner Rice

Have a blessed Memorial Day!

What perfect timing this had, (although me not so much, I am quite late now,) I’d only just finished reading a book in which Memorial Day (that is to say, in the book it was still called Decoration Day, but that’s quibbling.) played a big part when this was posted! And oh, I’d quite forgotten about Helen Steiner Rice’s poems and prayers… Thankyou for reminding me🤗

Oh, how cool! That’s right, I forgot it used to be Decoration Day…

Well, it was you who first introduced me to her, so I’ll send that thanks right back to you 😀
