For Tuneful Tuesday today, I’m sharing a song from a genre I’ve only recently really started exploring: 20s-30s jazz. My fondness for the TV show of Jeeves and Wooster sparked the decision to start exploring the genre. It’s a good show to watch if you want exposure to rather goofy late ’20s-early ’30s music (also a good show to watch if you like enjoying yourself).
In any case, I feel like “You’re the Cream in My Coffee” perfectly captures the whole vibe of that genre. It has the big brass instrumentation, it’s jazzy, it’s perky, it’s a little stupid. (In a fun way, though.) And besides, I like songs that involve coffee. So, here you go:
(By the way, not many videos seem to want to disclose this information, but the vocals on this are by Sam Browne.)
P.S. When I wrote this post I forgot it was going up on Valentine’s Day…so, happy Valentine’s Day! And happy feast of Saint Valentine. Saint Valentine seems to get rather forgotten on his feast day, sadly.

What a sweet fun song! I love old music and songs about coffee too! Have you heard The Coffee Song by Frank Sinatra?
Yes, isn’t it such a fun song? I love having music like this on in the background while puttering in the kitchen or cleaning furniture or some such – it gives whatever you’re doing such a cool vintage vibe. I’d never heard The Coffee Song before, but I’m listening now – it’s fun too! Thanks for introducing me to it; I’ll be listening to it again 🙂
