Welcome to the first installment of Tuneful Tuesday! The premise here is quite simple – every other Tuesday I’ll post a song that I’d like to share. These songs will usually be on the older end of the spectrum (as in, from before 1970) but I can’t promise that I’ll never do anything more recent if I feel the urge to.
I’ll start off with a song from the first band I fell in love with, The Seekers.
The Seekers were the first Australian band to achieve much success outside Australia. They have a very wholesome, clean-cut, and all-around very cute vibe, and they completely stole my heart when I was about ten years old. It wasn’t long before I was digging up all their music on Youtube, quizzing my family on which Seeker was which, and generally doing what fangirls do.
Very sadly, Judith Durham, the “girl of The Seekers”, passed away this August. She was one of those people who just seemed to radiate joy and goodwill towards everybody – if you’ve seen many Seekers videos, you’ll notice how she’s almost always smiling. She never appeared to let fame go to her head, but always remained very sweet and unpretentious.
She was simply a wonderful lady (and VERY talented – her voice is beautiful), and I know that many people were touched by her, and touched by her death. So, I’m sharing this song especially in memory of her. We love you, Judith <3
